Hello! My name is Sharla. I have a Master of Social Work with a specialization in Clinical Social Work Practice. I have been a practicing social worker for over twenty-five years and feel blessed to have had the opportunity to provide support and services to children, teenagers, adults, and families. I am very passionate about working with children, teenagers, and young adults.

As a social worker, I practice with a holistic, client-centered, trauma- informed, strength-based, and solution-focused lens. I strongly believe in developing a positive therapeutic relationship with my clients where they feel listened to and safe to share their thoughts and feelings.

I believe in working collaboratively with my clients on their healing journey of overcoming challenges and finding their inner peace, strength, and resilience. Some theories of practice I use are Trauma-Informed Practice (TIP), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and mindfulness.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and love watching my children participate in their activities. I also feel energized when I get together with friends. I greatly enjoy being outdoors and some of my passions include going to the lake, swimming, water sports, fishing, golfing, going for walks, skiing, skating, and tobogganing. I enjoy travelling, going out for supper, reading, watching movies and live theatre, going to concerts, and watching sports, such as hockey, baseball, and football.
